New York State Alternate Assessment

The New York State Alternate Assessment (NYSAA) for students with severe disabilities is being implemented beginning September 2001. This assessment is for students ages 9-10, 13-14, and 16-17 who have severe disabilities and is a datafolio of information in which students demonstrate their performance toward meeting the alternate performance indicators.

This office collects data and produces reports to inform the people of New York State about the recent performance of public schools. These reports are used in constructive conversations which lead to improved education for all children in the State.
      The New York State Academy for Teaching The New York State Academy for Teaching and Learning
has several goals. One is to honor the active participation of teachers in helping their students achieve the learning standards established by the Board of Regents.
     
   
     

Five Year Phase in on Regents Exams

State Education Commissioner Richard P. Mills in the April 1999 Report to the State Board of Regents has created a "safety net" to assist students with disabilities meet the new standards.

National Educational Technology Standards for Teachers just released! On Monday, June 26th, 2000 the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) released the third in its National Educational Technology Standards (NETS) series.

This publication, entitled National Educational Technology Standards for Teachers specifies what technology a teacher new to the classroom should know and how the teacher should be able to use them with their students.
