The Accessible Computer
This session will review low vision access and screen reader software installed in NYISE computers. The goal of this session is to assist teachers in providing students with support when using computers. By the end of session, the participants will be have developed lists and cheat sheets on using access software.
Software to be reviewed:
ZoomText Xtra
The software consists of two product levels: Level 1 is the advanced screen magnifier and Level 2 offers a fully integrated magnifier and screen reader – designed specifically for the low-vision computer use. A free trial version is available at the company’s website.

Jaws for Window
Using screen-reading developed
by Henter-Joyce the students have access to the Internet and they are able to
use most Windows applications. Many of our high school students have had several
years of experience using the software. A free trial version of the program
